Sunbeam Dehydrator Filament Dryer Mod

The dehydrator

Continuing from my last post about the issues with wet filament, I wanted to be able to dry out my filament. We have a Sunbeam food dehydrator that I decided to print some parts to make it suitable for drying filament.

The parts of the dehydrator

It consists of three parts:

  • An outer wall to make the whole dehydrator tall enough to fit two spools of filament. It’s split into four parts so I could fit it on my printer. The parts slide together with dovetails.
  • A central tube that directs air down to the bottom of the dehydrator and holds the spools off the bottom.
  • A nozzle adaptor that directs the hot air into the central tube.

I printed all the parts and it has been working well for a couple of weeks now.
